ESPN Puppy Day is celebrating National Puppy Day with a night full of dog sports.

ESPN Puppy Day is taking over the television on Monday, March 23, which also happens to be National Puppy Day 2020.

If you missed the inaugural ESPN Dog Day last August, then you’re in luck, as most of the content from that celebration will be re-run. This seems extremely smart, as it ties into the holiday while at the same time taking care of a gaping hole of programming that needed filled.

Dog O’Day learned of this event through the ESPN press site.

The action begins, all on ESPN2, at 6 p.m. ET, with the 2019 AKC Agility Premier Cup from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum last April, the sort-of home of Tori‘s New York Islanders.

At 7 p.m. ET comes Dog Tales, a stiched-together show from segments of E:60 and SportsCenter SC Featured.

Next pup at 8 p.m. comes ESPN Championship Pup, hosted by ESPN reporter Anita Marks and Gina DiNardo of the American Kennel Club, with color commentary provided by Matt Nelson of WeRateDogs. This consisted of a quick flyball race, a short agility competition and a dock diving competition, all held on the ESPN campus in Bristol, Connecticut.

A half-hour documentary called Owen + Haatchi will air at 9 p.m. ET, about the remarkable bond between a boy and his dog. This award-winning documentary will be followed by a special canine edition of the talk show Late Night with Katie Nolan at 9:30 p.m. ET.

At 10 p.m. ET the ESPN Puppy Day festivities will wrap pup with canine highlights from the 2004 and 2005 ESPN Great Outdoor Games, which sounds like it was quite the event – human sports including wild things like tree-chopping. Agility and disc dog will be among the events shown.
