Holiday specials are something we all look forward to and there's nothing better than seeing our favorite characters celebrate. That's why it was no-brainer to talk about Garfield and St. Patrick's Day.
Of all the holiday specials, it feels least likely that shows will give us a St. Patrick's Day special. The sad news is that there is no Garfield St. Patrick's Day special. However, since Garfield does end up pretty unlucky, it makes sense.
There might not be a Garfield St. Patty's Day special but there was a Garfield St. Patrick's Day episode. Some might say an episode is a special, but it doesn't have the same grandiose presentation as the other holiday specials we've shared of Garfield's. Some of those include A Garfield Christmas, A Garfield Thanksgiving, and Garfield's Halloween Adventure.
The other major difference is that the holiday specials mentioned above were released in the 1980s and 90s. This was an episode featured in the 2009 series The Garfield Show, so while it might not be a Garfield special in the true sense, Garfield does at least celebrate St. Patrick's Day in some way.
Garfield does visit a leprechaun in an episode
If you're looking to celebrate St. Patty's Day with Garfield, then the episode you're looking for is "Lucky Charm," which aired as part of The Garfield Show. At the time, it wasn't marketed as a St. Patrick's Day episode; it does feature a lot of St. Patrick's Day themes, and honestly, sometimes that's all you can ask for.
The unlucky thing about all of this is that this episode isn't currently streaming. In doing some researching into streaming The Garfield Show, I noticed that Netflix is only streaming seasons 3 and 4. Basically, you're out of luck if you're wanting to watch something related to St. Patrick's Day and Garfield this year.
Maybe next year, we'll get a little luckier, but for now, the Garfield St. Patty's Day pickings are pretty slim. If you're looking for something different or to get ready for spring, you might want to watch The Garfield Movie on Netflix or watch one or all of the Garfield specials on Peacock. While this is some bittersweet news, there is still plenty of Garfield to go around.
