The (very unofficial) 2022 Dog Twitter Golden Globes was held yesterday afternoon on the interwoof, and once again was a pawesome display of kindness and Photoshop fun.
Weirdly, the actual Golden Globes were not televised at all this year, though they still technically happened as a slideshow online.
Technically called the Golden Globes of Anipal Twitter, it was hosted once again by PeytonReads (@PeytonReads) and Canadian Penny (@CanadianPenny1), who channeling their best Tina Fey and Amy Poehler impressions, the event saw a bunch of other friends help out in various ways, as Fenwick (@FenwickCHO) volunteered his attorney at paw skills pro bone-o, since the budget was string-cheese-thin.
Other helpers included Angel Cooper (@CoopersCornerTD) and Queek (@Queek53950616) assisting with on-stage details, and Bijou (@BijouNews) hosting the red carpet pre-show.
Dressed in their best bow ties, wigs, hats and more (whether real or digitally worn) in the audience were many friends including Wilma the Snoopervisor, Kuno the Servicerottie, Moose the Creek Dog, Benny Benson, Nessa and Macie Doodle, Wilbur and Ernie the cats, Angel Sugar and many, many more.
The 2022 Dog Twitter Golden Globes were a fun celebration of the best of Anipal Twitter.
The 2022 Dog Twitter Golden Globes kicked off with a a rousing musical number sung to the tune of Beauty and the Beast‘s “Be Our Guest,”
The GGAT 2022 Vogue Award, given to the pet with the best facial expressions, went to Tallulah.
The GGAT 2022 Foodie Award had some fantastic entries, but it wound up being a tie between the good folks behind Claire’s Caff and the Candy Cat food truck.
The GGAT 2022 Squizzah Spotter Award, given to best squirrel-finder, was awarded to Casey Chasem (@CaseyChasem), which is quite fitting.
“OMD (Oh my dog)! I feel so honoured to be recognized,” Casey said in his speech. “It’s truly amazing and much appreciated fur such support from my pals, thank you. Now, all you puppies out there, you work hard and keep them squirrels under control!”
Since Anipal Twitter is full of fun games and adventure clubs, it’s no surprise that there was a three-way tie for the GGAT 2022 Game Show Award between Violet the Newfy (@Violet_theNewfy) for her Monthly Photo Challenges, Beatle and Bailey (@BeetleBMD) for their puzzles, and Lord Biddy (@LordBiddy) for his brain teasers.
For her excellent joke-telling skills, Maylee the Rescue Pup (@MayleePup) was given the GGAT 2022 Giggle Award.
“Our Dogs of Twitter corner of the Twitterverse is the best place for pals of all kinds,” Maylee said in her acceptance speech. “It’s the best place to be, so much kindness and suppawt. I’m so happy that my dog jokes bring giggles. Love y’all!”
There was another three-way tie for the GGAT 2022 Smile Award winner, given to those who make each day just a little brighter and inject some happiness into everyone else’s day. These winners were Odie Orville the cat (@OdieOrville), Penny Lane and Roxie (@Penny_Lane_Pup), and Syd the Squid (@Syd_akaYog).
“Oh my goobness! We are floored! WOW! What can we say?!?!” a gobsmacked PL tried to express her appreciation. “Thank you to everypawdy fur all da joy you bring into our floofy hearts! We’re so honored dat we get to make folks smile and laugh every day!”
After a quick Penny trip backstage to the catering table for a pie break, it was time to give out the GGAT 2022 for Best Miniseries or Special Event, and there was a ton of great options to pick from, so it was deemed that several winners be picked here as well. Christmas with Kuno, the Ratvaark Olympics, Nipfest 2021, the TJ5 Cotswolds trip and Hailey’s Dinosaur Adventure all claimed this award.
The GGAT 2022 Group/Organization Award rightly recognizes the community spirit of Anipal Twitter, with Pals Porch, Tweetchoir, the Super Senior Cats Club, Hedgewatch, the Zombie Bullz and the X-Pets (@Xpets1) all winning.
That just left the biggest and most impawtant award of them all, the GGAT 2022 Kindness Matters Award, honouring those who enveadour to make their community and the world a kinder place one tweet at a time, was again given to everyone in the Anipal Twitter world.
So there you have it, how the 2022 Dog Twitter Golden Globes went, and we hope all people, doggos, cattos and other anipals have a fantastic year going forward. Thank you fur letting us be a part of it.
