Dua Lipa has adopted a new puppy, who debuted on Instagram earlier this week.

Dua Lipa has become the latest celebrity to adopt a new puppy, as she posted a picture of the new family member on her Instagram earlier this week.

The British pop star, who formerly worked as a model before breaking into music, adopted the puppy with her boyfriend, American model Anwar Hadid (brother of Taylor Swift pal Gigi Hadid).

This news was previously reported on by People Magazine.

The puppy’s name is Dexter, and he appears to be at least partially Labrador Retriever.

Dexter is described as “our tiny best friend” in the caption, and in the comments Gigi Hadid wrote (in all caps, mind you) “My nephew is a VERY GOOD BOY!” This seems hard to argue with.

Dexter is a rescue pup from the Labelle Foundation, a Los Angeles foster-based rescue organization that specializes in orphan litters and special needs dogs. It was founded by Laura and Sabrina Labelle, who are either a mother-daughter team or sisters, about seven years ago.

Lipa has released two albums to date, Dua Lipa in 2017 and Future Nostalgia earlier this year. She has also made four EPs, Spotify Sessions in 2016, 2017’s The Only and Live Acoustic, and Deezer Sessions in 2019.

Her music has also been included in the movies Fifty Shades Freed and 2019 sci-fi action film Alita: Battle Angel.

Other singers who have adopted pets in the past few months include Miranda Lambert, who picked up a stray kitten she found on the highway, and Jennifer Lopez, who along with her husband Alex Rodriguez, added a Goldendoodle puppy named Tyson to their family.

Many actors, including Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Clark Gregg (Agents of SHIELD) and Charles Melton (Riverdale), have also added pups to their family since the coronavirus pandemic began in early March.
