Charles Melton has a new pup that he calls his “soulmate”

When it comes to Riverdale star Charles Melton, we already knew that he had a soft spot for dogs. After all, we have seen him do an interview while playing with puppies. And now it seems that the actor has gone all in and adopted a pup named Neya.

According to People Magazine, while quarantining in May, Melton shared with his followers that he had made the decision to adopt a Siberian Husky pup. Since that initial introduction, the actor has also shared a few pictures with his pup as they explored the country, while also practicing social distancing.

And as a new dog parent, it makes sense that Charles Melton is trying to raise awareness for the plight of shelter dogs in an effort to help them find new homes. This awareness initiative is part of his current partnership with Purina ONE, which is all about clearing out the shelters.

Charles Melton partnered with Purina ONE to help clear the shelters

While explaining his partnership with Purina ONE and how he met Neya, Melton explained that,

"I partnered with Purina ONE and it was an easy fit because they have a shelters program where they donated 6.5 million pounds of dog and cat food to shelters, which is great. And along with the partnership, I got connected to the shelter with Hollywood Huskies and met Neya when she was 12 weeks old. And at this time she was fostered in three different homes. So when we met it’s …  I met my soulmate and it’s just been a match made in heaven since then."

I don’t know about you, but his sentiment about Neya is truly heartwarming. The fact that upon meeting her he knew that she was the dog for him is so beautiful.

It’s also quite inspiring that the actor chose to partner with Purina ONE to help other shelter dogs find new homes. After all, it is clear that his own pup, Neya, has found the perfect home and other dogs deserve to find the same thing.

As a new dog father, Charles Melton seems to have gotten a new appreciation for the mission behind Purina ONE’s efforts to help shelter dogs find a new home. And hopefully his Riverdale fans support his latest endeavor and help get the word out about adopting and not shopping.
