When she first met Prince Harry, Meghan Markle already owned two rescue dogs. And now as a mother, it seems the Duchess of Sussex wants to continue the tradition.

Before she became the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was already a dog lover with two of her own rescue dogs. And once the former actress moved to England, she continued to show her love for animals.

While only one of her rescue dogs was able to move overseas with her, she was able to find a new home for her other pup with friends of hers in Canada. And of course, she is also the patron of the Mayhew animal rescue charity, which she visited for the first time in January of this year. However, while the Duchess of Sussex may have a thing for rescue dogs, it seems she might be considering a rescue pup for her son Archie as well.

According to Vanity Fair, Meghan Markle has always loved rescue animals and it would make sense that she would be interested in her own child adopting from a shelter. And it seems that a report from The Sun has the Duchess of Sussex already contemplating a rescue dog for baby Archie, who was christened over the July 5 weekend.

In fact, this report has the Duchess and Prince Harry considering a tour of local shelters near them in order to find the perfect pup for Archie. The theory is that the royal couple wants to find a dog for Archie that the child will grow up with and remember as part of his childhood when he is older.

Although it is possible that the former Meghan Markle is considering adopting a rescue dog for Archie, until it actually happens, we really don’t know if a new pup is on the horizon for the family. Considering they already have two dogs at home (Guy, the rescue dog the Duchess brought over with her, and a black lab that she and Prince Harry adopted together), it’s possible that there won’t be a new pet in the family for a while yet.

If the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry do adopt a new pup, we hope to see a few pictures of Archie with his new furry friend. And we will be waiting to learn more about the royal family’s rescue pup plans along with everyone else.
