If there's one show everyone was talking about in 2024, it was Bluey. Featuring the titular character and her family, the series went beyond the audience it was marketed towards and soared into the hearts of adults and kids at heart everywhere.
Aside from some lovely episodes and Minisodes, the show also aired its first special which was "The Sign." The episode was one we've discussed previously on Dog o' Day and honestly, it's a great episode. If you're a Bluey newbie, this one has to be on your list.
While the news was shared online, it also came with a letter from Joe Brumm, the show's creator on Bluey's website: " I always said I wouldn’t keep making the show if I thought I couldn’t make any new season as good as the last. This would have been the case for me with a potential season four, so I’ve decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series. In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, The Sign will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such." It is bittersweet but no doubt is something Brumm has struggled with in working on a Bluey movie.
With Brumm's wording, it does bring up a few ideas on what's next for Bluey and most notably if a Bluey movie will mark the end of the series.
Is the ending for Bluey already in the works?
As awesome as Bluey is, it doesn't feel right to continue the show without Brumm. Maybe that's just me, but things never seem to be as good without the creator. If anything, it would make sense for season 4 to be the final season of Bluey. Of course, then things will wrap up with the movie but with how companies are, it's doubtful that will happen.
If the Bluey movie does end up as the show's finale, I couldn't think of a more fitting ending. The series has covered so many important topics and allowed more frank conversations to be had. Honestly, I can't imagine another kid's show that is as impactful as Bluey has been. While there have been some great ones, Bluey is truly on another level.
With Brumm putting his focus on the movie, it'll be interesting to see what changes happen with the series and if there is a shift in quality. Given how popular the show is, no doubt fans are going to share their thoughts and opinions on how season 4 is. Ultimately, the fan reaction and the quality will tell us if Bluey will continue beyond season 4 and the movie.
Either way, it's been so great to see how popular Bluey has gotten. Brumm even expressed that in his letter and shared that Bluey changed his life. I'm sure no one imagined just how much this series would resonate with people. No matter, we still have plenty of Bluey episodes to look back on if the show does end with season 4 and a movie.
