The upcoming Netflix live-action Scooby-Doo series has fans excited yet nervous. Given how beloved the 2002 Scooby-Doo live-action film has become, it makes sense.
While we don't have many details about the series yet, Netflix did share some updates on Tudum page. The series is going to serve as an origin story for the Mystery Incorporated gang and show us the case that brought the gang together.
As someone who has watched and enjoyed a lot of Scooby-Doo content, I'm tentatively excited about this one. It sounds like it's going to be fun while also being slightly scary. Hopefully, it will be in the same vein as the Fear Street movies Netflix has been putting out.
If you look at the show's description, you'll see that Scooby is mentioned but not in the way most of us have imagined, "During their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder." As you can see, Scooby-Doo is supposed to be a puppy when the series starts which is an odd choice but not entirely unexpected.
Will Scrappy-Doo appear in Netflix's live-action Scooby series?
In season 1, I don't foresee us getting anything from Scrappy-Doo or even, a mention of him. With Scooby-Doo being a puppy, it's obvious his sister is only a puppy too. However if the show does get renewed for more seasons, I do think that there is a possibility we'll see Netflix decide to bring Scrappy-Doo into the fold.
If anything, it might be the perfect opportunity for Scrappy-Doo to be revived as a character. It would only work if Netflix doesn't overuse him. Having him only show up in an episode or two versus every single one would be unexpected but hopefully, welcomed by long-time Scooby-Doo fans. Of course, this will only happen if the series ends up running for more than one season.
Either way, I think bringing Scrappy-Doo into the fold might be a fun idea. While it likely won't happen unless the show gets renewed, it could be interesting. Additionally, l think many are tired of the Scrappy-Doo hate so why not add him into the live-action fold? Until then, there are plenty of fun Scrappy-Doo moments to revisit on Max unless you're wanting to watch a Scooby-Doo movie.
