Everyone has a favorite cartoon character, and for many, that's Scooby-Doo. He's just one of those characters who has stood the test of time, and we all love him, but he didn't just pop into existence.
Thankfully, since it's Mother's Day, we decided to take a look at Scooby-Doo's family and found out more about his mother. As you might imagine, his mother is named Mumsy Doo and she is owned by Shaggy's parents which is honestly pretty surprising.
For reference, Scooby-Doo does have a dad, but we're just here to talk about his mom. Even though Mumsy-Doo doesn't show up much, she's still an important part of Scooby's life and is someone we see occasionally, which is nice. While she hasn't popped up in years, that's something we're going to talk about in just a second.
If you're looking to watch an episode or two featuring Mumsy Doo, you can check out "Curse of the Collar" or "The Were-Dog of Doo Manor," which are both episodes of A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. It feels like the best part to start since we're following Scooby-Doo as a puppy.
Where is all the love for Scooby-Doo's mom, Mumsy-Doo?
Looking at some of the modern cartoons, moms play a larger role than in the past. That's why it's so interesting to see the complete lack of Mumsy-Doo featured in Scooby-Doo content. Things look even bleaker as we're not even getting new Scooby-Doo content. If we were getting more, we might have a chance at learning more about Mumsy-Doo.
While Mumsy-Doo probably won't play as big a role as other cartoon dog moms, it feels like way past time to learn more about her. Honestly, I'd love to see any or all of Scooby-Doo's family members make a comeback. It feels super weird that she was never featured in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, given that we learn more about Shaggy and his parents.
Mumsy-Doo has been featured in some Mother's Day posts of the past, but I'd love to learn even more about her. Hopefully, Warner Bros will get things on the right track, and we can learn more about her eventually. Until then, though, it seems like we're destined to enjoy these little crumbs of Scooby's past.
