When Boomerang was folded into Max, many of us hoped that Max would do the right thing and add all the Scooby-Doo movies and shows to its platform. As far as TV shows go, Max kept their word on that front, but Scooby-Doo movies are another story.
At the time of posting, Max has loads of different options of Scooby-Doo TV shows. There are shows from every decade, era, and anything in between. Looking at the Scooby-Doo movies, there are only 2 Scooby-Doo movies currently streaming on Max.
The two movies currently streaming on Max are Scoob! and Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! These aren't a surprise as Scoob! was released in theaters in 2020 while Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! was released in 2022. This was obviously before Warner Bros decided to pull the plug on multiple other Scooby-Doo movies.
Regardless, this feels like a strategic move to alienate such a popular fanbase. It just gets even more puzzling given how many Scooby-Doo series are currently streaming on the platform. It really makes you wonder who is making these decisions.
Max only has two Scooby-Doo movies currently streaming.
While many Scooby-Doo fans questioned the decision to close Boomerang, the sheer lack of Scooby-Doo movies is so indescribably stupid. Why would you decide to remove all of the Scooby-Doo movies when most people who used Boomerang switched to Max? Ultimately, it's a decision I'll never be able to rationalize.
To continue that point, why would you have Boomerang users switch over to Max? It just seems like a moot point if Warner Bros was going to remove all of the Scooby-Doo movies. Having only two there just feels like a slap in the face. Maybe I'm taking this a little too seriously, but it feels so weird not to have any new Scooby-Doo content that isn't already in production.
As we all know, Netflix is producing a live-action Scooby-Doo series while Cartoon Network is in the process of making Go-Go Mystery Machine. However, we have no word on any Scooby-Doo movies in the works or anything about previously abandoned projects. It is just so frustrating to see such a huge company make such a horrible mistake, especially with such a beloved franchise.
Regardless of what happens in the future, this feels like an especially weird time to be a Scooby-Doo fan. No matter if you're a casual fan or have loved Scooby-Doo for years, it's hard to believe we're at this point.
