A lot of people are finding an interest in South Korean television shows, and for good reason. Some people find themselves drawn to the pacing and humor of these shows. If this is you, or you just want to try something new, here are some fun shows to watch that have dogs featured in them.

These shows are all available on either Tubi, or Netflix. Both of these platforms have very good selections of Korean dramas to watch.

5 fun Kdramas to watch for dog lovers on Tubi and Netflix

1) Behind Your Touch

Behind Your Touch is a hilarious and quirky supernatural mystery show about a veterinarian working with a police officer to solve a serial murderer. In this drama, the main character Bong Ye-bun gets mysterious powers from a meteor shower. She realizes later during her work that she can read glimpses of the memories of the animals that she works with, when she touches their behinds.

As the show goes on, she realizes more about her powers and uses them to help the people and animals around her. She comes across the police officer Moon Jang-Yeol, who initially distrusts and dislikes her, but eventually comes to rely on her powers to help them both solve mysterious deaths that are happening where they live.

As she’s a veterinarian who works with animals, dogs come into play in the plot and are often shown on screen. A lot of pet owners will feel sympathetic to how much Ye-bun truly cares about dogs being mistreated or neglected.

2) Mad for Each Other

Mad for Each Other is a touching and funny romantic drama about two people who go to the same therapist meeting each other by chance. Lee Min-Kyung, a woman with anxiety and paranoia issues, runs into Noh Whi-Oh, a former police officer with anger issues. The two initially dislike each other, but they grow closer over time and start to become friends. They learn to better cope with their respective issues, while also starting to fall in love with each other.

A large part of this drama is about recovering from mental health struggles. A lot of people with dogs may connect with the prominent side plot in Mad for Each Other, where Lee Min-Kyung adopts a stray dog. Having a pet by her side helps some of her issues with anxiety and paranoia about leaving her house, and gives her a reason to leave the house regularly. The strong bond that she has with her dog helps her in her emotional journey, which is something that many pet owners can also relate to.

3) Once Upon a Small Town

In Once Upon a Small Town, Han Ji-Yul, a vet from Seoul, comes to visit his grandparents’ town after getting a concerning call. There in Huidong, he meets Ahn Ja-Young, a female police officer that is beloved in the small town. This drama is a romantic comedy that pokes fun at the differences between the life and expectations of a small town versus the big city.

As Han Ji-Yul is a vet, a lot of the show centers around him treating animals. Though most of the animals he treats in the series are livestock, dog lovers will especially appreciate the prominent side plot where he takes a stray dog that was trapped in a rat trap by a farmer. After treating his wounds, both him and his love interest connect with the dog, with the love interest Ja-Young naming the dog Nurungji and adopting him.

Additionally, sometimes in the show Han Ji-Yul treats other dogs from the residents around Huidong. There are a lot of cute scenes with dogs in this show that animal lovers will love to see.

4) Psychopath Diary

Yook Dong-sik, a timid man who is pressured to take the blame for his coworker’s mistake, is close to the edge of taking his own life when he by chance comes across something terrible. He soon realizes he is witnessing an attempted murder, the serial killer Seo In-Woo is attempting to murder a homeless man in the same building he is in. In a hurry to get out of there, he takes a diary from the killer that landed near his feet and runs out of the building.

Unfortunately though, in another twist of fate, he is hit by a car soon after and loses his memory with the diary still in his possession. Believing the diary to be his, he tries to step into the dark life of a killer, with mixed results. While he is balancing his own moral struggles as well as covering the tracks of his activities, the killer who wrote the diary is trying to cover his own tracks while also looking into Yook Dong-sik.

Psychopath Diary is a hilarious dark comedy drama with thriller elements, but it also has surprisingly cute scenes with dogs in it as well. The female lead, Shim Bo Kyung, often visits her father who has several dogs at his cafe. Yook Dong-sik used to walk her father’s dogs before he got amnesia, and there are cute snippets with the dogs as they still recognize him and instinctively trust him.

5) Oh My Ghost

Oh My Ghost is a supernatural romantic comedy with thriller elements. In this drama, we follow the main character Shin Soon-ae, a ghost that died before she was able to fulfil her wish of having sex for the first time. This regret keeps her in the living world, keeping her from passing on to the afterlife. In order to fulfil her desires, she possesses Na Bong-sum, a timid and mousy girl who has the ability to see ghosts.

Kang Sun-woo, the cocky and abrasive chef, is the boss of Na Bong-sum and her fellow co-workers. As Shin Soon-ae is possessing Na Bong-sum, she snips back at her boss as the ghost is much more confident and fiery than the girl she is possessing. This confuses and puts off the other people working there, and creates a lot of the comedic elements to the show. 

As the ghost wants to get closer to her boss in order to fulfil her desire, this drama has a very unique twist on a love triangle. Shin Soon-ae, who is more outgoing and flirty, and Na Bong-sum, who is more reserved, both fall in love with the chef. In turn, he falls for both of them as well, thinking that they are the same girl with a very unusual personality.

Dog lovers will love the inclusion of the side plot with the stray dog that Kang Sun-woo finds and feeds. He names the corgi Stalker, as the dog was following after him.
