What is the most Googled dog breed in the U.S.?

When you think of the most popular dog breed in the United States, what comes to mind? Do you think about Google searches when it comes to popular breeds? The answer is probably not.

Thanks to the Dogs Advisory Council, we actually know exactly which dog breed seems to be the most popular across the country, at least based on Google searches. According to a press email we received, we learned that in 2023 66 percent of U.S. households are pet owners, specifically owning dogs. That being said, that doesn’t negate the fact that people are still going to be Googling for information about other breeds of dog.

So what did the Dogs Advisory Council figure out when it came to the most popular dog breed being Googled?

The most popular dog breed in the U.S. based on Google searches is…

Apparently the top dog breed based on Google searches in the United States is actually the Cane Corso. It seems that the Cane Corso is the most searched breed in 46 of the 50 states.

Not only is the Cane Corso the most Googled dog in states such as Massachusetts, Connecticut, Alaska, Florida, and Louisiana, but it is also the most searched breed in the District of Columbia as well. (Maybe it is just us, but this is a bit of a surprise when you consider the fact that the most popular dog breed for 2023 is the French Bulldog.)

But what about the other four states? Which states did not have the Cane Corso at the top of their Google search lists? And what dog breed are those four states searching for the most?

It seems that in California they are mostly searching for Saint Bernards. Over in both New Jersey and New York they are searching for Boxers. And in Rhode Island it is all about Googling the Shiba Inu!

We are pretty surprised by these findings and yet we can’t help but love knowing which breeds of dogs are popular based on Google searches. But we want to know what you think of these findings. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
