Bob Saget, who is possibly best known for his role as family patriarch Danny Tanner in Full House, has passed away suddenly at 65.

This news was announced by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in Orlando, Florida, and reported by ABC News.

An unresponsive man was found in his hotel room and pronounced dead when paramedics arrived at the scene, though it does not seem as if drug use or foul play was involved.

While it isn’t clear if the actor and comedian had pets of his own, all three of Saget’s main roles involved dogs to some degree.

Actor Bob Saget has suddenly passed away.

On Full House, which ran for eight seasons on ABC from 1987-1995, Saget’s Danny often shared scenes with Comet the Golden Retriever, teaching him (among other skills) how to load the dishwasher after mealtimes.

Saget also reprised his role in the 2016-2020 Netflix sequel series Full House, though middle-aged Danny was considerably less-than-enthused with Comet’s descendant Cosmo on his visits back to the home place in San Francisco.

Saget was also the original host of ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1990-1996. There were many clips throughout the years of dogs, cats, horses and other pets (not to mention other humans) doing ridiculous things, much like how Pet TikTok is fully of entertaining cat fails.

Finally, Saget was the present-day voice of Josh Radnor’s character of Ted Mosby on the 2005-2014 CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother,  and Cobie Smoulders’ TV anchor/reporter character of Robin Scherbatsky, whose Canadian-ness was often made fun of by other characters, another strong personality trait she had was being a dog lover, with several large dogs living on the couch at any one time.

His first TV role was a guest spot in the Tom Hanks series Bosom Buddies, and his final TV appearance was on The Masked Singer in 2020 as the Squiggly Monster.
