How did Dog Twitter friendship save Christmas 2021?

Well, strictly speaking, it didn’t exactly, but if one allows for the power of imagination and magic of storytelling….some of our favorite pups definitely saved the howliday.

Every night Kuno the Servicerottie’s (@Servicerotties) human tells him a bedtime story, and she recorded her latest and shared it with the wider Dog Twitter community through the use of the audio-only Spaces feature.

While the following summary doesn’t completely capture all the brilliant details of this tale (tail?) of Dog Twitter friendship, it gets the main idea across pretty well.

Dog Twitter friendship saved Christmas 2021…kind of.

Because of the pandemic, all reindeer were quarantined from mid-December until a little after New Year’s, which seemed to mean that Christmas 2021 was canceled.

But someone at the North Pole remembered that Olive the Other Reindeer once filled in for a spare reindeer, and if she could, why couldn’t dogs sub in for the whole team?

So an elf named Minty asked Kuno, one of the interwoof’s most well-known service dogs, asking if he could assemble a team of sled dogs pronto. Due to time constraints, the assembled team consisted of all Canadian doggos, and what a team they were: Canadian Penny (@CanadianPenny1), PeytonReads (@PeytonReads), Puppsy (@JacksonTheHuski), Nessa and Macie Doodles (@DoodleNessa), Benny Benson (@CGBosslady1) and Bunsen Berner and Beaker (@BunsenBernerBMD).

Once they got to the North Pole using some fancy science-magic to warp time, the eight dogs cosplaying as reindeer ate the magic hay cookies the reindeer used to fly, and got the hang of air running while Beaker was named as Santa’s helper, riding passenger in the sleigh and serving as the “girl in the chair.”

So the presents were delivered on time all throughout the world, and once back in Canada on the return trip home, Kuno checked on his human while they were in Edmonton (she was doing fine), and at their last stop in a remote town in the Yukon Territory, a scrawny homeless dog was found to be a stowaway.

While he wasn’t exactly a good dog, eating cookies and a teddy bear that were supposed to go to a lonesome boy, Santa and Minty decided that the homeless pup did exactly fit the boy’s request for a friend, so Beaker gave him a makeover and everything turned out well.

Everyone made it home in time to dream of plenty of tasty treats in the morning, and that’s how Dog Twitter friendship saved Christmas 2021.

This story of course had far more details that were included that played up the various personalities of each pup, like Nessa and Macie’s sarcasm, CP’s kindness, the booksmarts of Bunsen and Peyton, Beaker and Puppsy’s playfulness, Kuno’s good heart, and Benny’s massive crush on Beaks.

However you and your people and puppers celebrated, we hope you had a fantastic Christmas (or Hanukah or Kwanzaa if that’s what you celebrate instead), and may 2022 be filled with pleasant memories and friendship.
