Is there anything better than finding that perfect dog toy for your pup? And when it comes to the classic KONG dog toys, we know we have found doggy perfection. But what happens when it comes time to get this toy clean?

The thing about those classic rubber KONG toys is that we use them to treat our pup. We are putting food into the center to not only stimulate our dogs mentally, but also give them a treat. And that means that these toys need to be cleaned.

Just like a dog’s water or food bowl, we need to keep KONG toys clean. (While you may think this is obvious, sometimes we forget.) And with the help of an Instagram post from the KONG Company, we were reminded that there are actually four different ways to get those rubber dog toys clean.

4 ways to get those KONG toys cleaned

We all know our pup’s are using their tongues and teeth to get those treats out of their KONG toys, but as for their hoomans… we need a bit more.

  • Soak the rubber KONG toy in a container filled with hot, soapy water. This should help to loosen the food particles in your dog’s toy.
  • Use a toothbrush or a bottle brush to get out any bits of leftover food particles.
  • Rinse your toy under warm running water.
  • The other option is to actually wash your dog’s toy in the top rack of a dishwasher.

Technically, it’s as easy as putting the toy in the dishwasher and letting the cycle run its course. And we love that, because anything that makes keeping our pup’s toys clean easy is a good thing in our book.
