Chopped is known for its weird ingredients and its tough judges, but on a new episode, they’re switching it up and having the chefs make delicious treats for a dog judge as well as the regular human judges.

In addition to making an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert, the chefs will have to make treats for a canine judge using the ingredients they have in their basket. They must impress a Golden Retriever with a well-developed palate. He isn’t going to take just the run-of-the-mill treats.

The episode starts off with a basket that actually includes a bone and then moves on to the second round where they must combine a dog-friendly drink and a pasta dish. How they are going to make that appealing is definitely going to be interesting.

The show finishes up with the dessert round where the chefs must work with bananas and another secret ingredient that will test their imaginations.

Chopped is adding a canine judge on their latest episode

The episode airs Tuesday, July 27 at 9 PM EST and will air again on Wednesday, July 28 at midnight if you miss it the first time around.

Chopped has been on for fifty seasons (how??). Clearly, they are feeling the need to change things up, and what better way to do that than with a dog as a judge? It will be interesting to see if the Golden Retriever spits anything out or refuses to eat something altogether.
