Every month since the First Dogs took office, they have been raising money for animal charities via their Oval Pawffice website and social media channels. And while June was certainly a difficult month for the Biden family and the First Dogs, following the death of Champ Biden, that has not stopped them from continuing their fundraising efforts.

In a post shared to The Oval Pawffice Instagram page on July 1, Major Biden revealed that in June they were able to raise $1,030 for the Delaware Humane Association (DHA), the same organization where he was adopted from. He also explained that,

"This was not a great month, so I have decided to keep raising funds for DHA through July, pawssibly August as well. I know Champ would pawpprove."

This is not the first time that the Oval Pawffice and First Dogs have decided to extend their fundraising efforts for an organization, as they did the same thing when they were working to raise money for the Humane Society. In April they announced they were going to be raising funds for the Humane Society, but by the end of the month, they were not satisfied with what they had raised and chose to continue their fundraising efforts into May.

The Oval Pawffice shares how much they have raised for the DHA to date, as they continue their fundraising efforts into July

Obviously, it was a rough month in June. And whether the loss of Champ had something to do with the fact that the Oval Pawffice didn’t raise as much money as they may have hoped for, we don’t know.

But we completely understand why they would decide to extend the fundraising into a new month. And since this is where Major Biden was adopted from, it also makes sense that he would want to make sure that they were raising as much money as they possibly can for the DHA.

I’m happy to see Major Biden continuing his fundraising efforts, even without his big brother at his side. And hopefully this month is a good one for their fundraising efforts. Considering the cute things they currently have in the Oval Pawffice store, such as the Yappy Hour Wine Cups that seem to float in water, we think the July efforts will be much better on behalf of the DHA.
