At least 34 schools use the classic Bulldogs as their nickname; these are Addison, Andalusia, Anniston, Ashville, Belgreen, Bibb Graves, Blacksher, Brantley, Carbon Hill, Clarke County, Dora, Gaston, Geneva County, Geraldine, Hanceville, Holtville, Kinston, LaFayette, Lamar County, Marbury, Montevallo, Moore, Opelika, Piedmont, Pike County, Ranburne, Restoration Academy, Sheffield, Sweet Water, UMS-Wright, Wadley, Washington County and Winterboro.

Defunct schools who were also known as the Bulldogs were – Bessemer Carver, Bibb Graves, Blue Springs, Camden Academy, Carlowville, Council Training, Centre Hatcher, Centreville Davidson, Fairfax Rehobeth, Georgiana Austin, McCullough, Pine Hill, Piper Coleanor, Repton, Sheffield Sterling, South Girard, and Tallassee Moten.

Aside from that, there are just the Huskies from Helena and Hewitt-Trussville, the Wolves from Fayetteville and Vigor, and the Frisco City Whippets.
