When it comes to news around the First Dogs, we typically turn to their social media account, The Oval Pawffice, first. And that’s why we know why they are in Delaware still, rather than making a return trip to the White House.

While there seems to be a lot of news surrounding the First Dogs, Champ and Major, I prefer to go to the source directly. And sure, the pups may not actually talk, but they certainly seem to have that whole typing thing down.

In a new post shared to their The Oval Pawffice Instagram account, Major and Champ shared the news that they are still spending time in Delaware because their mom, First Lady Jill Biden, is currently in New Jersey. According to the pups, whenever their mom is out of the White House, they are as well, even if they are not actually traveling with her.

Considering our First Lady is currently on the “Help is Here” tour which is all about the current COVID relief package, it makes sense that the First Dogs are also “out of office.”

The First Dogs have not returned to the White House just yet

Following the news that there had been an incident with Major Biden and an unfamiliar person startling the pup, there was a lot of speculation about why the First Dogs had been sent to Delaware. However, it did not take long before some clarifications were made, and we learned that Major and Champ are always sent to Delaware when the First Lady is away from the White House.

As the pups themselves shared on Instagram, “once mom is back, we’ll be back too.” And since the Press Secretary has also explained this during a press briefing, we are not too concerned about our First Dogs not being back at the White House yet.

While we cannot wait for them to be back home and running around on the White House lawn again, we also understand why they are still in Delaware.
