The White House has officially commented on the situation with Major Biden and why the First Dogs are currently spending time in Delaware. On March 8, CNN reported that the First Dogs had been sent away from the White House following an “aggressive incident” between Major and an unnamed individual.

In the report, they reported that Major Biden has jumped at people, run at individuals, and basically shown multiple signs of aggressive behavior. All of this culminated in our First Dogs being sent to Delaware for an undisclosed amount of time, or at least that seemed to be the story.

However, as Politico is reporting, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has offered some remarks on what happened and why Champ and Major Biden are currently in Delaware. And yes, there was an incident, but it certainly seems to have been downplayed since the initial reports broke.

According to Psaki on March 8, Major was apparently surprised by someone he was unfamiliar with and he “reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual, which was handled by the White House Medical Unit with no further treatment needed.”

Jen Psaki also commented on the report that it was because of this incident that the First Dogs had been sent back to Delaware. And according to the press secretary, “it had been previously planned already.” The reason the pups were heading back to the President and First Lady’s home state was to stay with friends while the FLOTUS was visiting military bases.

While she is not going further into detail about what happened with Major Biden and the unnamed individual, she did make it clear that, “The dogs will return to the White House soon.”

We are happy to get further clarification from the White House press secretary herself, especially since the First Dogs have been at the forefront of plenty of reports lately, some less than kind.

As any dog owner can tell you, when major changes happen in our lives, they have a direct impact on our pups. And moving into the White House is a big change in Major and Champ’s life. There are even more people to get used to and a lot of unfamiliar ground to cover. Plus, Major Biden is still more of a puppy, even at three, which means he is going to react much differently to all of the turmoil of moving into a new home, especially one filled with so many new people.

Hopefully things settle down soon for the First Dogs and they are able to get back to helping raise money for charity with their Oval Pawffice website.
