The 3rd AKC Virtual Top Dog Challenge has announced their new winners; let’s see!

Due to the very unfortunate comings of the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Kennel Club (AKC) has to run their new Top Dog Challenges all as virtual contests now, including their newest competition, the 3rd AKC Virtual Top Dog Challenge! As of our current times and at the moment right now, most things are being postponed and performed and done virtually given the current state of the world.

The AKC officially announced the winners of their 3rd AKC Virtual Top Dog Challenge on Thursday morning, October 29.

For this contest the pooches were judged based off of two different classes: Puppy (at least 6 months, but under 12 months) and Open Class (any entry including CH of record); also, they’re placed in the appropriate breed and sex categories likewise.

For this particular contest/challenge, here were the judges per each respective/professional category that they so happen to specialize in:

  • Sporting = Mr. Douglas A. Johnson
  • Hound = Mr. Eugene Blake
  • Working = Mrs. Vicki Seiler-Cushman
  • Terrier = Mrs. Connie H. Clark
  • Toy = Mr. David J. Kirkland
  • Non-Sporting = Mr. Steven Hayden
  • Herding = James J. Mitchell
  • Miscellaneous (Others) = Mrs. Anne K. Catterson

Just because this 3rd AKC Virtual Top Dog Challenge is being done from home, doesn’t mean that the patterns and tasks to be done by each pooch changes. Here’s what had to be done as each pooch’s owner made a video of their dog performing virtually:

  • Normal Ring Procedures Including…..
    • Walking around in a circle
    • Walking in a straight line, down and back
    • Standing still in stack and free-stack
    • Breed-appropriate and given examination of bite and mouth
