Schitt’s Creek fans really need to give Best in Show a watch

We love a good dog movie and one of the best might just be Best in Show. And if you happen to be a fan of Schitt’s Creek, but haven’t watched this movie yet, we think you will definitely want to change your mind.

In fact, with Best in Show being 20 years old as of 2020, now might be the perfect time for anyone who is a fan of the Rose family and their time in the unique town of Schitt’s Creek to give this classic a watch.

3 reasons to watch Best in Show as a fan of Schitt’s Creek

Here are three reasons why fans of Schitt’s Creek should give this movie a watch:

Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara

Honestly, if there is a more dynamic and hilarious duo than Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, we need to know. These two have played off of each other for years. And whether it is on Schitt’s Creek or Best in Show, these two play a married couple with remarkable conviction and perfection.

While the marriages in question could not be more different between the TV series and the movie, there is still something so dynamic about these two as a power couple. They just work!

So of course, if you are a fan of Schitt’s Creek and you love Johnny and Moira Rose, then you need to give Best in Show a watch so you can enjoy Gerry and Cookie Fleck in action as well.

The Comedy

While Schitt’s Creek is a comedy that perfectly blends drama and small town living into an idyllic look at what life could be like if more people were accepting of others, Best in Show is a comedic mockumentary around the world of dog shows.

There is a lot of humor to the movie, as well as plenty of insight into the stress of being competitive. While both stories are told in their own way, it is the ability to find comedic moments when one might never have thought to find humor that makes these such compelling watches.

The Surrealism

If you think about it, there is something about Schitt’s Creek that is truly surreal. We are talking about a small town, where you can be yourself, even if that means having no money and living in a motel. It is a town where it doesn’t matter if you are gay, bisexual, or straight, or if you and your best friend are sleeping with the same man. It’s a town where the crazy seems normal and the normal seems out of place.

And then we have Best in Show, where we get some of the weirdest, most surreal mock interviews. The way people interact with each other is not even close to normal, and while dog shows are by and far different from what we see on our screens, there are still those kernels of truth that add to the random humor and objective oddness of the stories being told.

Honestly, at the end of the day, if you are a dog lover, you need to watch this movie. And if you are a fan of Schitt’s Creek, you need to watch it for more of Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara.
