The 2020 NHL Fan Choice Awards winners have been announced.

The 2020 NHL Fan Choice Awards winners have been announced, and the hockey dogs and their teams around the league did pretty well.

Winning Best Dog was Lenard the Bernese Mountain Dog/Doodle mix, who belongs to the Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid. Lenny earned 47.9 percent of the vote, beating out Aspen the Australian Shepherd (Detroit Red Wings’ Tyler Bertuzzi, 21.6 percent), Butter Pig the Pug (Carolina Hurricanes’ Lawson Crouse, 15.3 percent) and Tornado (the Colorado Avalanche’s Sam Girard, 15.2 percent).

Best Team Dog winner was Captain the Caps Pup with 22 percent of the votes, the Montreal Canadiens’ Flambo earning a surprise second place with 16.4 percent of the vote, with the top five being filled out by the New York Islanders’ Tori (12.7 percent), the San Jose Sharks’ Finn (9.4 percent) and the Arizona Coyotes’ Luna (8.9 percent).

Ovie the Bulldog‘s Caps also picked up more 2020 NHL Fan Choice Awards as well, with winger TJ Oshie taking Best Pregame Ritual and center Alex Ovechkin winning Best GIF of the year.

Bark-Andre Furry and Deke-Henri Furry’s Vegas Golden Knights picked up a couple 2020 NHL Fan Choice Awards wins, too, as goalies Marc-Andre Fleury and Robin Lehner captured Best Save of the Year and Best Follow, respectively. Additionally, the team mascot, Chance, claimed Best Mascot with 32.7 percent of the vote (the Philadelphia Flyers’ terrifying Gritty was the only other mascot to get more than 4 percent of the vote).

While Smash‘s Nashville Predators came up a little empty, goalie Pekka Rinne won Best Goal of the Year by becoming the first netminder in seven years to score a goal himself.

Every NHL team as a dog breed. dark. Next

We think Best Fan Dog ought to be a category next year, but with so many hockey dog friends from Dog Twitter, we have no idea who we would vote for.
