Even Food Network appreciates dogs the way we do. And in the new episode of Holiday Gingerbread Showdown, contestants went all in on for a Canine Christmas.

Are you a Food Network fan? Do you watch all of the competition shows and baking challenges? In the latest episode of Holiday Gingerbread Showdown, our favorite animal took the spotlight, as dogs were given a chance to shine for the holidays.

In “Canine Christmas,” bakers were tasked with creating a gingerbread showpiece that gave our favorite furry friends a chance to celebrate the holidays. And of course, they also had to make a delicious treat that showcased their baking talents.

Perhaps the best part of the entire episode was actually seeing the finished product, as each showpiece really was a masterpiece of doggy love. Not only did we see a Mexican wedding cake dog bone, but one of the showpieces featured pups taking over for Santa’s reindeer (or trying to at least).

For us, it was all about seeing the canine aspect of the baking competition. And while we love the fact that these sweet treats were for humans, we would have loved to see the bakers have to make a dog treat to go along with those canine showpieces. That being said, it was nice to see the Holiday Gingerbread Showdown giving pups all the love in this episode, as we think dogs are just as festive as any other holiday fixture.

Even if dogs aren’t going to be a part of the show moving forward, it was nice to see them being a part of the baking show early on. And it definitely means we will be tuning in to see what happens next, as we can’t wait to see what other themes they choose for these gingerbread showpieces.
