Ross Butler may have superpowers in Shazam, but in real life he is just like the rest of us. But that isn’t stopping him from using his platform for good.

Ross Butler has taken on quite a few roles lately, with his most recent being a superhero in the DCEU. In fact, the 13 Reasons Why actor was part of a special surprise that came towards the end of Shazam. But it is not his role in any of these movies or shows that we are interested in, but rather his apparent love of dogs.

In a post on Twitter, Butler shared a picture of himself in his superhero costume holding a small dog in a sweater. And based on the follow-up post about the pup, his name is actually Mr Bean and he is a rescue that fellow Shazam actress Michelle Borth adopted.

While the picture itself is adorable (and we love seeing cute pictures of actors with dogs), it is the message that goes along with it that makes it clear that Ross Butler may not be a superhero with powers, but he wants to use the platform he has and raise awareness for special causes. In this case, the cause that he wants to bring awareness to is No Kill shelters.

According to Butler, if he really did have superpowers like his character in Shazam, he would be using them to save as many dogs as he possibly could. But, since he doesn’t this what he can do – use his platform, raise awareness, and start a campaign to help benefit Best Friends.

Best Friends is a “national animal welfare organization,” that not only runs one of the largest no-kill shelters in the United States, but also has programs designed to help eliminate kill shelters. And in an effort to raise not only awareness, but also money for the organization, Ross Butler has kicked off a special campaign for Best Friends that includes three different t-shirt designs.

While he kicked off the campaign back on National Pet Day, this limited fundraiser will not be around for long. This means that if you want to support Butler’s campaign and the No Kill shelter, now is the time to do so. Whether you make a donation, adopt a rescue, or purchase one of the shirts from the “Unconditional” campaign, you will be helping to make a difference.

Even when the campaign ends, it is clear that the actor wants to use his platform for good. Hopefully this means we will see more of Ross Butler speaking out and supporting causes such as this.

We love supporting fellow dog lovers, and when it is for such an important cause, we are definitely happy to help spread the word.
