After getting royal approval from Meghan Markle, the Jack Russell terrier that the Duchess was smitten with at Mayhew finds a new home.

On January 16, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, visited the Mayhew animal charity in her first visit as the organization’s royal patron. And while the purpose of the visit was to learn more about some of the programs that the charity is working on, the Duchess also took the time to meet some of the people being helped as well as interact with some of the dogs at Mayhew.

While meeting some of the dogs the organization had rescued, the Duchess of Sussex seemed to be particularly smitten with one pup in particular, a Jack Russell terrier named Minnie. While the Duchess already has two dogs with her husband, Prince Harry, it was clear that she wanted to make sure that Minnie was up for adoption.

And according to People Magazine, it seems that Meghan Markle’s favorite Mayhew pup has actually found a forever home. At just a year old, it makes sense that Minnie would be able to find a new home rather quickly, but we bet the Duchess of Sussex’s apparent appreciation for the pup’s charms helped as well. As the Duchess said while visiting with the Jack Russell terrier, “hopefully she’ll be adopted today, when everyone sees her.”

On the Mayhew website, Minnie’s status as a rescue has been changed to reserved. And we can’t help but think it may just be the Meghan Markle effect in action. With so many people following the Duchess’ every move and even buying things that she has worn in an effort to copy her style, it would not be a surprise to see that effect carrying over into the realm of rescue dogs.

Hopefully the more the Duchess is involved with the charity, the better it is for all the animals waiting for new homes. Of course, we can’t wait to see what else she does as the new patron of Mayhew.

In the meantime, we can appreciate the fact that at least one of the rescue dogs that was available for adoption during Meghan Markle’s visit to the animal charity has apparently found their forever home.

Do you think the Duchess of Sussex’s visit to Mayhew helped Minnie get adopted? Do you think the charity will see a boost in attention thanks to the royal’s patronage? Tell us what you think in the comments.
