When it comes to picking out a name for your new dog, pop culture can play a huge role in what you decide to name them. Whether it's a beloved character, show, or movie, you're bound to take inspiration from what you like.
Looking at all of the films released in 2024, there were plenty of incredibly popular titles. That's why I had to share some data from Rover. Rover complied the best dog names from movies and we're going to be talking about the top 10.
You can find the full list on Rover's website if you want to know more. However, we have to start with one from a movie that was incredibly popular this spring, and that was The Garfield Movie. Odie was the top pick from Rover for dog names from movies in 2024. Yes, Garfield's beloved pal received this incredible honor and given how popular the film was, this makes sense.
Moving to the #2 spot, this went to Mickey. Oddly enough, the only thing that comes to mind is Mickey Mouse. However, it's unclear if that's why Rover chose that one. If you watched a movie with a character named Mickey, be sure to let us know on Facebook.

Rounding out the top five, we have Margo who is a beloved character from the Despicable Me franchise, Patrick and Joker. Patrick is likely to come from Challengers while Joker is obviously from the new Joker sequel. As you can see, the top five are full of heavy hitters and feature some unlikely picks for characters.
Moving to the #6 and #7 picks, Rover went with Sonic which is a classic name every gamer will recognize. Then at #7 is Harley Quinn which is obviously another reference to the Joker. At the #8 spot is Elio which was set to be released this year by Disney but got pushed back. Either way, it's still a unique enough name to make the list.
Coming in at #9 is Tashi who is also from Challengers. Last but not least, the final name in the top 10 was Snow White which is another film Disney is releasing in 2025. Before we wrap things up, I wanted to share a few other movie-inspired names that made the list. Some of those included Godzilla, Art, Elphaba, and Glinda. As you can see, Wicked is a very popular pick for this year, and no doubt that trend is going to continue beyond 2024. We can only hope you're holding space for even more great dog names in 2025.
