Hocus Pocus is arguably the most popular Halloween family movie out there. Released in 1993, it's a film that many of us grew up with and have watched countless times since then.

The one thing that everyone focuses on is the Sanderson Sisters. Given that they're the "villains" of this particular tale, it makes sense. Plus with the great casting and witty dialogue, it's clear to see why everyone loves them so.

However, the one person, or should we say feline, that gets forgotten is Thackery Binx. If you've watched the movie, you know the fate of Thackery. While trying to save his sister, he is cursed to never die and is made into a black cat.

By the end of Hocus Pocus, Thackery gets his happy ending, but not without some trials and tribulations brought on by Max but mostly, the Sanderson Sisters.

Where is all the love for Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus?

When it comes to kitty companions, no one ever talks about just how smart and loving Thackery Binx is. Even though he couldn't save his sister, he did everything he could to make sure that no one else would fall into the Sanderson Sisters' trap. Most people wouldn't have cared as much as Thackery did, and that's something to applaud.

Coupled with the fact that most people have poor opinions of black cats, choosing to make Thackery so loving and kind was incredibly smart. While it hasn't changed how people think about black cats, I can imagine it influenced some to adopt a black cat. No doubt that Thackery was once a popular name for black cats during the 1990's.

Thackery Binx also went through a lot in his cat form. In the film, he ends up getting hit by a car, has to deal with the Sanderson Sisters again, and even has enough energy to tell Max about himself. I don't know about you, but that's a Halloween cat I can get behind. There is no way anyone imagined just how big Hocus Pocus would become so there's no reason why Thackery Binx doesn't get the love he deserves.

Thankfully, Loungefly did show Thackery some love by releasing a Mini Backpack with his likeness on it. Of course, we'd love to hear all the love and positive thoughts you have about Thackery Binx ahead of Halloween as well.
