The Peanuts holiday specials are easily some of the most popular and beloved. The forgotten one of the bunch is easily A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
Since Apple TV is included in my subscriptions and it's almost Thanksgiving, I decided to give it a watch. With a runtime of less than 30 minutes, it's a fun and incredibly quick watch, yet one thing stood out.
While the special is called A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, the one who saves the day throughout the entire special is Snoopy. Most of us could have guessed that, but this time, Snoopy really does run the show.
If you've never watched the special, it's basically Charlie Brown being forced to host Thanksgiving for himself, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Franklin, Linus, Snoopy, Woodstock, and Sally. However, the thing no one realizes is the effort Snoopy puts in.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is more of the Snoopy show.
Given Charlie Brown's reluctance to host and lack of cooking skills, Snoopy takes up the reins fairly quickly. Not only does he find the Thanksgiving table and set it up, but he also becomes chef Snoopy because the food isn't complex but it needs to be served. Heck, Snoopy even dresses up in a Pilgrim costume alongside Woodstock which doesn't go the way he imagines at all.
While Charlie Brown and Linus help out with Thanksgiving dinner, most of the heavy lifting goes to Snoopy and Woodstock. By the time the food is at the table, Snoopy is the one plating it up for everyone and he ends up serving everyone as well. However, Snoopy gets his time to shine at the very end of the episode.
Once Charlie Brown and the rest of his friends go to his grandmother's to eat, Snoopy pulls a turkey out of his doghouse for him and Woodstock to share. If anything, that proves just how capable Snoopy is as he helped with everything for Charlie Brown's thanksgiving and was even able to take care of his own.
Honestly, if you haven't watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, then you're missing out as it's such a great watch. As with all of the rest of the Peanuts holiday specials, it is currently streaming on Apple TV. Even if you missed the free window to watch which was November 23rd and 24th, you can get a free trial to be able to watch on the big day.
