Scooby-Doo is one of those franchises that never seems to get old. Maybe it's due to the movies or the different series, but everyone has a different favorite and a different entry point. Whether you were introduced by family or just watched it on TV as a kid, everyone remembers their first Scooby-Doo series or movie.
That's why it's so interesting to see how different the franchise is today. While we've gotten some great Scooby-Doo series in the past, there hasn't been a new Scooby-Doo series since 2021's Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? The series was a similar format to The New Scooby-Doo Movies as it featured celebrity guests.
With the premiere and subsequent cancellation of Velma, things are up in the air with the Scooby-Doo franchise. The major question is whether we would ever get a series focusing on one character over the others. To put it simply, it just doesn't seem like a good idea due to just how disliked Velma was.
Ultimately, the decision will come down to those at Warner Bros, but among fans, it seems like the answer is obvious. We don't want or need another Scooby-Doo spinoff. It's proven unsuccessful once and was a true annoyance in the past, so why go back and revisit past mistakes?
The need for a Scooby-Doo spinoff is very slim
While some might disagree with me, I firmly believe that the franchise does better when all of the characters are together. Rather than focusing on having one character be the focus, let the focus be the team and the mystery-solving they do. While it's nice to see a storyline focused on one character every once in a while, that isn't what made these series or movies great.
It's all about the friendship and how well the team worked together. It's the fun hijinks between all of them and seeing how their dynamic plays out. Maybe it's just me, but I adore seeing the entire Scooby gang together. Unfortunately, business doesn't always share that same vision so maybe we'll eventually get another Scooby-Doo spinoff.
However, Scooby-Doo had run into problems in the past by focusing entirely too much on Scrappy-Doo and ditching the rest of the gang. In that case, fans started to get fed up with his presence and generally got annoyed by him. That's why there's such a polarizing reaction to Scrappy-Doo when he's featured in different series and movies.
Ultimately though, it will depend on those who have the money and power to make those decision. If they do pay attention to anything online though, it's clear fans are wanting more Scooby-Doo. Why not give the people what they want?
