When it comes to Scooby-Doo specials, it feels like there is no shortage of topics for the franchise to cover. That's why it was so fun to revisit Scooby-Doo! and the Beach Beastie.
Originally released in 2015, this is a special so not sure if it technically counts as part of the Scooby-Doo films line. Either way, this is one I've watched in the past but with summer right around the corner, there was no way I wasn't going to rewatch it.
The good news is that if you want to watch it or rewatch it, it's available to stream for free on Tubi, along with many other Scooby-Doo shows and movies. If you're not looking for another streaming expense, then Tubi is a great place to look for Scooby content.
Let's begin with the most important point, which is the runtime. This special is basically as long as a normal Scooby-Doo episode. With a runtime of only 22 minutes, it's one you can put on, watch, and then go about your day. While it might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's still one worth mentioning.
Scooby-Doo! and the Beach Beastie is a short yet fun watch.
This special begins with the gang going to Fred's house but as we all know, Fred is obessed with nets so his house is booby-trapped. While the gang knows where most of the traps are, they end up getting caught up in one at the very end. From there, they decide to give up and take Fred on a vacation.
Daphne shares that her Uncle Sandy recently opened a hotel and invited them there. It's on the beach so it seems like a swell idea. However, things quickly take a turn when the entire hotel has nets all over and there is a monster aka the Beach Beastie. The Beach Beastie is basically stealing and looking for jewels although we're not sure why.
For a majority of the special, we're following Fred as he tries to get himself together and Scooby falling for another dog. Shaggy is understandably jealous but everyting seems to work out in the end as Fred's nets end up coming in handy. Meanwhile, Shaggy is able to get over his jealousy and the kids can enjoy their trip while capturing another culprit.
Ultimately, this one is short and sweet with not much else going on. The major highlight of the special is that Adam West voices Daphne's Uncle Sandy which is undeniably cool. Between all the specials though, this is probably the one I'd skip as I've already watched it before.
