Prince William and Princess Catherine are just like us when it comes to their dog

When it comes to the royal family, there are moments when they prove that they are just like us. And that includes the way they are with their dogs. Repeatedly they have shown that they are all very devoted pet owners, starting with the late Queen Elizabeth II to Sarah Ferguson, and now Prince William and Princess Catherine.

According to US Weekly, on October 17 while in Cornwall, Prince William met up with a local who had their own dog with them. And while chatting revealed some insight into his home life with his own dog. Sitting down with Hits Radio Cornwall, that same local shared with the radio station that he admitted that he and his wife allow their dog, Orla, sleep in the bed. She shared that "[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate."

If there is one debate we have talked about repeatedly in the past, it is the idea of letting our dogs sleep in the same bed as us. And we have even written about why pet owners might not want to let their dog sleep in bed with them. So to have Prince William and Princess Catherine on the side of allowing the pup into the bed is actually quite endearing.

Considering the royal couple has long been loving dog owners, it doesn't come as the biggest surprise that they might also allow their pup in the bed. Following the loss of their beloved Lupo in 2020, they were gifted Orla, a Cocker Spaniel, by Princess Catherine's brother, James Middleton in 2021. And while they don't often open about their private lives, including their pets, once in a while they remind us of how much they love their dogs.

We love that the latest tidbit into their life with Orla comes in the form of a very relatable comment like the dog gets to join them in bed at night. It definitely makes us feel like we aren't wrong that we enjoy a good snooze and snuggle with our own staff pup.
