If you grew up in the '90s or early '00s, then you'll remember the PBS show: Wishbone. The series followed the titular character, which was a dog named Wishbone.

The twist was that Wishbone would take us into his head and we'd see his vivid daydreams about being part of history or being featured in a literary classic. As someone who was a huge reader, I was all about this show.

Even if you weren't a huge reader or didn't love the stories, there was something undeniably adorable about Wishbone. It feels like they don't make shows like Wishbone anymore and considering that it aired on PBS, anyone could watch it.

As beloved as the series was and how much it's still talked about, it might surprise you to know that you can't stream Wishbone anywhere.

Why isn't PBS' Wishbone series available to stream?

Let me start with something surprising before getting into what we know. Firstly, Wishbone only ran for 50 episodes and a movie. I feel like there was so much ground for this show to cover and it just never happened. Even so, that doesn't answer why it's not available to stream.

The one thing we do know is that Universal bought the rights to make a film about Wishbone but there isn't much news on that end. However, the reason why it's not on streaming might have to do with PBS not wanting to share the rights or put the show on a streaming platform. Either way, it's frustrating as the show was so great.

Not only was the main character an adorable Jack Russell, but it was just a great show. While it might not hold up without our nostalgia glasses, it would still be fun to rewatch. Plus it could be a great way to get kids excited about reading or learning more about classic stories.

Either way, it's unclear when or if Wishbone will end up streaming. Until then, we can still relive the incredible theme song and all the classic stories made better by Wishbone.
