This Halloween season just got more festive (and adorable) with Monsters Cereal pet friends
By Sandy C.
General Mills has brought back our favorite Halloween monsters! Yes, you should begin to see Count Chocula and friends on the boxes of Monsters Cereal on store shelves now. But notice anything different? This time, our Monster friends are not alone! Accompanying each iconic creature is a pet – and these are the most frightfully adorable pets you have ever seen.
Every icon needs a sidekick! Yes, even Count Chocula. Just like all of us here at Dog O’ Day, the Monsters Cereal’s monsters are obsessed with their pet pals. But the adorable pets do more than just appear on the cover of the cereal boxes, they are featured as marshmallows, too! That’s right, each cereal includes candy marshmallows that are shaped like these cute pets. Allow us to introduce them.
Count Chocula’s crawly friend is Igor the Spider, who is also Count’s loyal guard. As you may have already guessed by the name, Count’s cereal is all about chocolate! It features chocolate flavors with spider-shaped marshmallows. Franken Berry shares the cover of the box with his best pal Bennie the Bat, who we hear has a wicked sense of humor. The berry-flavored cereal is mixed in with bat-shaped marshmallows. Cuteness!
Next up, we have Boo Berry with Meow Berry the Cat, who loves Boo Berry berry– I mean, very much! This berry-flavored cereal features cat-shaped marshmallows. And last, but certainly not least, there’s Carmella Creeper with her partner-in-crime Scratch the Snake. This is the latest cereal to join the Monsters Cereal line and it is ready to make a lasting impression with a caramel apple taste and snake-shaped marshmallows. I haven't tried this one, but I'll give it a shot. However, I don't know about you, but caramel apple isn't nearly as fun as berry or chocolate.
These boxes of Monsters Cereal are already appearing in stores, available at your local mass retailer. Which of these are you the most excited to try? I have to say, I do have a bone to pick with General Mills here. Why aren't there any dog pets? Imagine Count Chocula with a little chocolate labrador. That's a missed opportunity there! But we'll take what we can get!
As for my favorite flavor, Count Chocula has always been my go-to, but I also love to mix two flavors. Because is it even the spooky Halloween season if you don’t create your own haunting breakfast experience? You can also get the Family Size Frightful Friend cereal box, which includes all of the marshmallow pet-shaped friends.
