Garfield is one of those characters who never seems to get old and always comes back for the next generation. In 2024, we're getting The Garfield Movie.

Looking back, the live-action Garfield movie was released in 2004 which was 20 years ago. I honestly cannot believe that and it feels like just yesterday, I was going to see it in theaters but I don't want to ruminate on my age.

Anyway, the upcoming film which is called The Garfield Movie is set to be released on May 24th, 2024 and features the all-star cast of Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson, Brett Goldstein and Harvey Guillén. All in all, it seems like a solid bet for spring and early summer viewing.

Since Garfield is such a popular character, most of us know about how he came into Jon's life, but it's clear the trailer touches on his origins while also taking him on a new set of adventures. Sometimes, that's the best part of seeing a new movie in a franchise as everything can tend to feel fresh.

If you continue to watch the trailer, this new movie is actually bringing something to the table and it looks surprisingly good. As someone who was firmly against Chris Pratt voicing Garfield, the plot of the movie actually looks pretty good. Maybe I was the only one, but I am so pleasantly surprised.

While it seemed like this movie was going to be something generic and watered down, The Garfield Movie seems like it could be a great one. Whether you're headed to watch it with your family or just love that orange kitty (and his doggie best friend, Odie), I feel like The Garfield Movie is going to be a fun one to watch this Memorial Day weekend.
