Max shares its October releases with very little Scooby-Doo and too much Velma

Max is making sure October is extra spooky this year.

If there's one thing scarier than very little Scooby-Doo, it's Max adding a new Velma Halloween special. Sadly, that's the reality of Max's October releases.

Given that Max recently folded Boomerang and brought most of its content over, it's even more frustrating to see. Not only are there plenty of other direct-to-video Scooby movies we're dying for, but no one asked for another Velma special.

Then again, I don't think I've seen a more disliked animated show than Velma. Maybe it's due to the bastardization of the characters we all know and love. Regardless, it's such a slap in the face to the Scooby fans who are hoping for more from Max.

There is one silver lining to this unfortunate disaster that is Velma: This Halloween Needs To Be More Special being released on October 3rd.

There is a silver lining for Scooby-Doo fans in October!

If you were ready to stop reading after the Velma news, we don't blame you. However, upon looking at Max's press room and seeing their October release, there is something to get excited about. On October 1st, the live-action Scooby-Doo film is headed back to Max. Given that it wasn't even streaming a few short months ago, this is exciting.

Additionally, it couldn't come at a better time as most of us love watching Scooby in all forms in October. Of course, if you're watching him during all months of the year, you're not alone. Other than that, there isn't much for Boomerang/Scooby-Doo fans in October. Maybe Max will surprise us and add some other Scooby-Doo movies but it's unlikely.

If anything, this move from Boomerang to Max only proved what most of us already guessed. A lot of our favorite movies would be headed to WB's vault. While you can rent or buy them, it's nice to be able to go back and rewatch them whenever you like. However, we'll see if Max changes its tune as we get closer to Go-Go Mystery Machine. Until then though, we can still watch 2002's Scooby-Doo on Max beginning on October 1st.
