No matter the weather, Scooby-Doo is something we can all appreciate. There is something about the Great Dane and his group of friends that feels so comforting.
If you're someone who grew up on Scooby-Doo or just love the character, there is something so fun about watching the direct-to-video films. While they usually aren't cinematic masterpieces, they're incredibly entertaining.
As far as Scooby-Doo movies, we can't ask for much more than that. However, I wanted to start off the "Summer of Scooby" by sharing some recommendations. These are all Scooby-Doo films streaming on Max and ones I think you could kick back and watch if you're in the mood for some Scooby.
Whether you're trying to reconnect to your inner child, love Scooby-Doo, or have a little one you'd love to introduce Scooby to, then summer is the best time to do that.
Celebrate the Summer of Scooby with these movies on Max.
1. Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog
The first film making the list is a recent addition to the Scooby-Doo film series and that's Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog. This film brings together two of our favorite cartoon dogs for a mystery that could only happen in Nowhere. While the film isn't nearly as scary as Courage the Cowardly Dog can be, it does have a bit of a creepy element and plenty of great moments between the two casts.
I will say that this one is a bit of a cheat as this one was originally streaming on Max but it's now available to stream for free on Tubi. While the rest of these are on Max, this one was too good so I had to include it on my list.
2. Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy!
Moving onto the titles actually featured on Max, I had to include Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy! I don't know about you, but when I think of the summer, I always think of boats and sailing. For this mystery though, the gang is headed to the Bermuda Triangle and honestly, that's not my idea of a relaxing vacation cruise.
Released in 2006, this is a fun Scooby-Doo film with ghosts, and pirates and has an amazing cast. We all know the classic Scooby voice actors but Tim Conway, Kathy Najimy, and Arsenio Hall all make an appearance. Whether you're headed to the beach or just want something to beat the summer heat, this one is worth the watch.
3. Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare
Moving onto another classic summer film in the Scooby canon, I have to feature Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare. While this film was released in 2010, it still has that classic Scooby-Doo twist that you don't expect. I don't want to give away too much about this film but it feels like such a unique villain and I love that.
Of course, I have to give this one props as my nephew went through a phase where he watched this one over and over again. I feel like I close my eyes and can see this film playing. Either way, it's set at a summer camp so it's perfect for a summer watch or rewatch.
4. Lego Scooby-Doo! Blowout Beach Bash
The final movie we're featuring on our Summer of Scooby list is the Lego Scooby-Doo! Blowout Beach Bash. While the Lego Scooby movies tend to get a bad rep, I feel like they're pretty fun and overall, incredibly quick watches. I know that sometimes, getting your littles to sit through an hour can feel like a chore.
However, this one is all about the gang trying to have fun and of course, they can't because there is a mystery afoot. Released in 2017, this is a pretty recent film so I can see why it isn't as beloved. Even so, it still has that classic Scooby-Doo feeling which is all you can ask for. Plus it's better than Velma which isn't a high bar so worth noting.
