Greg Berlanti shares promising update for live-action Scooby-Doo
When it comes to beloved franchises, Scooby-Doo is up there. The series has been through many iterations with Velma being universally despised by tried and true Scooby-Doo fans.
That's why it was understandable that Scooby-Doo fans were nervous upon hearing about the new live-action Netflix series. Of course, that wasn't the most nerve-racking part but Greg Berlanti being attached got fans shaken.
For those who don't know, Berlanti is known for such CW gems as Riverdale, The Flash, and Batwoman among other projects. His resume is vast and fans were worried that his changes to the Riverdale universe would continue as he is in charge of giving us a live-action Scooby-Doo.
Thankfully, this promising update from Berlanti should comfort fans for now as reported by Collider: "With Scooby-Doo, we went out and heard pitches for a year and a half and finally found one that we really felt really captured it. I just was working on the pitch for it this morning, for the first episode. So we’re really pumped ." As you can see, Berlanti clearly put a lot of time, energy, and effort into making sure fans will be happy.
This Scooby-Doo update should have fans a little calmer.
Aside from Berlanti sharing that small update on Scooby-Doo, it does bear noting that Berlanti did work as a temp at Hanna-Barbera. While it might seem irrelevant, it's clear Berlanti has an attachment to the source material and would show it the love and care it deserves. At this point, things seem okay for the new Scooby-Doo series.
We have yet to see the pilot or even, any real details about Netflix's take on Scooby-Doo. Until then, there are still plenty of other Scooby-Doo projects to watch. If you're craving live-action, you can revisit the 2002 film. You could even go back and rewatch the show's first series which was 1969's Scooby-Doo, Where are You! Of course, we haven't even mentioned the countless direct-to-video films that have been produced either.
It's unlikely we'll get to see any clips or previews of this live-action series until 2025. We're also waiting for more details on the Go-Go Mystery Machine series as well. Even though 2024 has been pretty sparse on Scooby-Doo content, hopefully, 2025 will be a return to form for the franchise.
