Dogpool isn't the only famous dog in the Marvel universe

Dogpool is everyone's favorite dog at the moment, but Marvel didn't stop there.

Dogs can be such a huge part of a hero's story and in Deadpool & Wolverine, Dogpool is a character we've come to love.

While Dogpool is the character we're all talking about right now, he isn't the only popular dog featured in Marvel. Whether it's the comics, films or TV series, there are plenty of other dogs you can show some love to.

In doing some research on Dogpool, there is an article shared by Marvel that talks about some of the "Top Dogs of the Marvel Universe." The article features some of the dogs with the most appearances in Marvel media and other popular ones you might have forgotten about.

No matter if you started with Marvel movies or comics or just love dogs, then you're bound to discover a doggo you've forgotten about or one you want to know more about.

These Marvel dogs deserve some love right next to Dogpool.

Marvel shared its very own ranking of the dogs but it is in order of their number of appearances with the top dog being Lockjaw. Lockjaw has appeared 317 times in different Marvel projects and is large and in charge in the best way. The company shared a brief bio on Lockjaw: "Born on the island of Attilian, Lockjaw may be a real dog with Inhuman abilities or an Inhuman that took a dog form when originally exposed to the transformative forces of the Terrigen Mist—the answer is unclear. But whatever his original makeup might be, contact with the Mist endowed the K-9 with a few superhuman (or superdoggie) skills—most uniquely, the ability to teleport himself and others across dimensions." As you can see, Lockjaw has had an interesting time since his first appearance in 1965.

Lockjaw has been featured in many different comics and even got his own series in 2018. If you can believe it, the next dog doesn't even come close to Lockjaw's number of appearances and honestly, which pup could?

Taking the #2 spot is Cosmo with 59 appearances and is part of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew. In recent projects, Cosmo has been changed to a girl dog and has been in projects such as What If...?, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Next up is Lucky aka Pizza Dog who is Kate Bishop's bestie with 41 appearances and was even on Hawkeye's poster, which is pretty dang cool.

Before we get to Dogpool, there are still a few pups to cover which are Forey at #4 who has appeared 30 times and is a guide dog for Reader. At 21 appearances is Rambo who is Richard Sheridan aka Sleepwalker's dog. At the #6 spot is Sassafras who has also appeared 21 times and is Beast aka Hank McCoy's dog. The #7 spot goes to Cerberus with 20 appearances, who lives in the Underworld, which is something most of us already know.

Coming in at #8, we have our beloved Dogpool who has appeared only 18 times. Of course, it could be more now with Deadpool & Wolverine. It's also worth noting that this article is from 2018 so we're using those stats. Last but not least, the #9 spot goes to Ms. Lion who is Aunt May's dog and despite having that name is actually a boy. At the #10 spot is Deuce who has appeared 16 times and has a storied history but I won't give all that away.

Either way, this article from Marvel proved just how many awesome doggos are part of the Marvel Universe. As mentioned, this article is from 2018 so these dogs could have appeared more since then but either way, this was a fun way to showcase some love to Dogpool and Marvel's other canine companions.
