The Scooby-Doo franchise has been around for decades but the movies are a relatively new venture for the gang.

That's why I wanted to make sure I showed some love to our favorite canine and his teen pals by looking back at some films hitting milestones in 2024. Since we're talking about milestones, we're going to focusing on films released between 10-25 years ago.

While there aren't many Scooby-Doo TV series, the studio made sure they didn't miss a beat when it came to releasing direct-to-video films. There are almost 50 of them and I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg.

With that being said, we have 5 Scooby-Doo movies to talk about as these are all celebrating some kind of milestone in 2024.

These Scooby-Doo movies hit a milestone in 2024.

1. Scooby-Doo! Frankencreepy (2014)

Starting off with a movie celebrating the 10 year milestone, we're starting with Scooby-Doo! Frankencreepy which was released in 2014. This was released in August 2014 and the film followed Velma who inherits a castle that is supposedly cursed. The gang decides to go investigate and it ends up being an eye-opener for everyone including Velma.

While the plot is pretty solid, this one just doesn't hold a candle to the older Scooby movies. All in all, it's not bad but it's not great. You can stream Scooby-Doo! Frankencreepy on Max.

2. Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery (2014)

As you can see, the Scooby franchise was incredibly active in 2014 with two movies released in the same year. Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery actually came out in March so it was just a few months ahead of FrankenCreepy. Either way, this one felt very odd, but also cool as it included a lot of WWE stars.

The film follows Scooby and Shaggy who win a trip to WrestleMania and they end up taking the rest of the gang along. Of course, there ends up being a mystery and from there, it's a pretty cookie-cutter Scooby movie. Once again, not great but not terrible. If you want to watch, Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery is available to stream on Max.

3. Scooby-Doo! and the Samurai Sword (2009)

The next movie we're talking about is Scooby-Doo! and the Samurai Sword. This was released in 2009 so it's turning 15 in 2024. This one is special for a few reasons as it ended up being the last film featured within the What's New, Scooby-Doo? era. The other reason is that it was the last time Casey Kasem voiced Shaggy as he retired from voicing him in 2010. Kasem would go on to pass away in 2014.

Moving on to the film, this one focuses on the Black Samurai who is evil as we're following the origins and then, the present. In the present, Daphne was invited to Tokyo to compete in a martial arts tournament and it's essentially them figuring out the legend and trying to save themselves along the way. This is worth the watch if only for Casey Kasem.

Scooby-Doo! and the Samurai Sword is currently streaming on Max.

4. Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster (2004)

As we near the end of the list, this next movie is turning 20 years old in 2024. Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster is an interesting one to talk about as it feels like a slight departure from the previous ones in the franchise. This one features the voice cast of What's New, Scooby-Doo? instead of featuring the original cast.

This film follows the Mystery Incorporated gang as they head to Scotland to visit Daphne's cousin, Shannon and they end up running into the Loch Ness Monster. From there, it ends up being a mystery to figure out who the Loch Ness Monster is. Once again, this is a movie that can be polarizing as it's different from the original format.

Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster can be rented or bought on Amazon Prime.

5. Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost (1999)

If there's one Scooby-Doo movie you have to watch from this list, it's Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost. It was released in 1999 which makes it 25 years old and yet this one is still a favorite amongst Scooby fans. The film focuses on Ben Ravencroft who is trying to bring back the ghost of Sarah Ravencroft who was his ancestor and also a witch.

As you can see from the clip above, Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost was our introduction to the Hex Girls. That witchy girl group has become a favorite and a pretty big fixture in the Scooby franchise. This is one of those Scooby movies that you'll watch once and want to revisit over and over again.

Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost is currently streaming on Boomerang.
