Puppy Bowl XXI has come to an end, and we finally have a winner. It was a game filled with contentious plays, plenty of puppy fights, and lots of dunks into water bowls, Team Fluff and Team Ruff did not come to play (or...I guess they did).
But who won? As a Team Ruff fan, I am very disappointed to announce that Team Fluff won this year's Puppy Bowl. It was an incredibly close game at the end, with the final score being 68-66. Team Ruff was leading for the last quarter of the fourth quarter, but in the last five seconds, Team Fluff scored a final touchdown and had me screaming at the television.
They also named the MVP and the Underdog. The MVP was Foxtrot who made an impressive number of plays during the game. As for the Underdog Award, that went to Mercury. The pup spent most of their time on the field lying down on the 50-yard line. And let's be honest...that's highly relatable.
If you have been living under a rock, let's take a look at how the Puppy Bowl works. They take rescue puppies from shelters all over the county to compete against each other. They are either on Team Fluff or Team Ruff. To score, they must pick up one of the many toys on the field and bring them to the touchdown. They score seven points for touchdowns and three points for field goals (which involve a dog kicking the toy into the endzone.

But beyond the gameplay, the show also features dogs up for adoption, a kitty halftime show, and plenty of pet fun. There are also several stories about the dogs playing on the field.
While I am disappointed that Team Ruff lost, this Puppy Bowl was extremely fun to watch and I can't wait for next year (and for Team Ruff's inevitable comeback).
