As pet parents, we all know that the pet industry is big business. We tend to spend a lot of money on our animals. And we’re not just talking about vet visits. We care about what our dogs and cats are eating, where they are sleeping and even what they are playing with. We have no problem spending money to make sure that our pets are well cared for in all ways.

According to Martha Stewart magazine, there are a few different trends to be mindful of. But we decided to focus on five that even we are integrating into our pets’, routines and lifestyle
5 pet trends to pay attention to in 2025
Public spaces that are pet friendly
When it comes to getting out of the house and doing things, many pet parents want to be able to bring their dog with them. But how do we do that? We have to find pet friendly places out in public. And while there are dog parks, that can’t be the only place we have to take our dog. Luckily, more and more people are catching onto the fact that pet parents want to be able to bring their pet with them places. This is why more stores are allowing pets, as are some restaurants. There are pet friendly patios at restaurants that allow you and Fido to enjoy a meal together. And at the rate things are going, there could be even more places where our pets are welcome.
Sustainability in the pet industry
For many people, sustainability is important. We only have one planet, and we need to take care of it. While we want to be able to spoil our pets, we also need to consider what we are purchasing for them. So having more sustainability in the pet industry is very important. And it is something that a lot of parents are going to be mindful of in 2025 and beyond.
Smart Tech for our pets
Humans are not the only ones getting smart technology. Nowadays, it seems that even our pets are getting with the times. We are talking about apps for pets, cameras that allow us to interact with our pets and so much more. At this point, there are litter boxes that actually can tell you if your pet has gone to the bathroom, how much they weigh, and more. And as technology continues to evolve and change, who knows what other innovations we could see that allow us to make sure that our pets are healthy and happy.
Enrichment products to improve pet mental health
Just like with human, our pets mental health is important. Pets can also suffer from anxiety and depression and not only that but boredom as well. So how do we help keep our dogs mentally stimulated? Enrichment activities and toys. Utilizing things like puzzle bowls for feeding, toys that have them using their mind, and engaging in activities with other animals and people.
If you have ever utilized doggy daycare, then you may be familiar with the fact that they often offer enrichment activities for your dog. Whether they are talking about Easter egg hunts, painting activities, or bobbing for hotdogs (all things that our staff pup has done at her doggy daycare) these are activities designed to keep your dog engaged and stimulated.
Preventative health care
If we are lucky, we all get old. And the same as true of our pets. In order to keep our pets, healthy and happy for longer, it is important to engage and preventative healthcare. And this is true, especially as they get older. Things like supplements, human grade dog food, and more are allowing our dogs to live longer healthier lives.
Much like we should be treating our bodies like a temple, perhaps that’s what we need to do for our pets as well. Obviously, we highly recommend talking to your pets, veterinarian and see what they recommend for your animal. Communicating with your veterinarian can go along way in finding things that give your pet the best chance at a long and healthy life.
