The Paw Patrol movie sequel has arrived in theaters and it turns out that it was actually quite well received in its opening weekend at the box office.

Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie released just in time for the final weekend of September and thanks to what was basically a rainy weekend in the northeast and beyond, a trip to the movies made perfect sense (at least to us). And whether or not the rain contributed to the movie’s box office success or not, we can’t help but point out that it likely helped.

So how did the Paw Patrol sequel do at the box office?

According to Variety, in North America, the animated movie sequel released in 3,989 locations. And in terms of earnings, it was able to bring in a solid $23 million.

These numbers were actually enough for it to be the big winner of the final weekend of September/first day of October. It was able to top Saw X, The Creator, and Dumb Money, the other new movies at the box office right now.

Not only did the Paw Patrol sequel do well at the box office based on its opening weekend earnings, but it has also received solid scores from the audience and even has some decent reviews from film critics. And it is entirely likely that the scores and reviews are a big part of the film’s opening weekend success.

It turns out that the Paw Patrol sequel did decently well in its global release as well. “The newest adventure based on the popular Nickelodeon kids TV show also launched at the international box office with $23.1 million, bringing its global tally to $46.1 million.”

We love to see dog movies doing well, no matter what movie it may be. And it is always fun to see animated movies leading the box office.

Hopefully the movie continues to do well in theaters.
