Samson the Lab is the cutest senior pup up for adoption

There will always be dogs up for adoption. Unfortunately, a lot of those dogs are senior pups. Just like the young puppies, seniors need homes too. Whether their owner’s pass away, a family can’t take care of them, or they’re simply and very sadly just unwanted, they need the same, if not more love that any other dog would.

Here is the story of 8 year-old Samson the Lab!

Thanks to the folks over at Lab Rescue (LSRP) based out of Annandale, Virginia, senior dog adoption is being brought to the forefront.

While they have many adoptable seniors, here is sweet Samson’s story…

He is a cute senior pup who is getting those 90’s/00’s-style frosted tips in all the right (and very adorable) places! He is 8 years-old and is looking for his forever home. Samson unfortunately came to the Lab Rescue after his previous owner’s living situation changed. He is great with both dogs and cats, and even does well with children, although they are preferred to be at least 6 years-old.

When it comes to his forever home, he’s looking for a single-family home, but he doesn’t seem to mind whether or not a fence comes with it. Samson is also both house and crate trained, which isn’t always found in these adoptee pups.

If you’re interested in adopting, or sponsoring, Samson, here are a few things to keep in mind, per the recommendations of the Lab Rescue:

  • Fees
    • According to their website, the fee to adopt Samson would be $375.
      • These are non-refundable for those that decide to return an adopted LR dog
    • Here’s what it covers:
      • Health care/vet bills
      • Treatments for pre-existing conditions/diseases
      • All dogs are ensured full veterinary care
      • Vaccinations
      • Other health concerns related to neglect
    • The average cost of care for a Lab Rescue dog is $1,000, so your fee matters
  • In order to ensure your Perfect Match, be sure to apply to adopt and speak/work with an Adoption Coordinator, or as we like to call them, The Matchmakers
  • Be aware of Heartworm
    • Roughly 10% of the dogs that come to the Lab Rescue will end up having Heartworm
    • Heartworm is treatable
    • The Lab Rescue provides all care in regards to Heartworm, at no cost to the adopter
  • They only adopt out to these certain states
    • Virginia
    • Maryland
    • District of Columbia
    • Pennsylvania
    • Delaware
    • West Virginia
    • North Carolina
