Back to school season has arrived and usually that also means it’s also TV premiere season as well. And that had us thinking about Will Trent.
The series, which based on books by Karin Slaughter, was a bit of a breakout hit for ABC in 2023, and it was renewed for a second season right before it’s Season 1 finale aired. It was exciting news for fans and the series as well.
However, as we head into September, we have to point out that there is still a writers and actors strike going on. And until the strikes are resolved, projects such as Will Trent are on hold.
So what does this mean for Season 2 of the series?
Here’s what we know about Will Trent Season 2
As Collider reporter recently, the series was actually renewed just two weeks prior to the start of the writers strike. This likely means that not a lot of work was done on the series by that point.
Currently, there is no hint of when it could return and obviously the strikes need to end before we find out anything. However, we do know that the series will return to ABC when it does premiere its second season, as it is an ABC Original.
For anyone who didn’t get a chance to watch the first run or even the summer replay, you can stream Season 1 of Will Trent on Hulu. Also, as book lovers, we highly recommend checking out the books by Slaughter as well, because it is a great opportunity to get a deeper appreciation for the characters and the storylines.
While we may not know exactly what to expect in Season 2, we do have a few things we’d like to see. We would love to see the relationship between Angie and Will get stronger. We would love to see his partnership with Faith grow. And of course we want more Betty! Something else we would love to see happen is Will exploring his past, and who he is. Now that he has an idea of who his mother was, it would be nice to see if there is any other family out there for him. It would also be interesting to see how the truth about his relationship to his boss changes things.
There are so many ways that Will Trent season two can develop and grow. And while we may have to wait until 2024, we are excited to see what comes next.
