First of all, just in case you’re a bit unfamiliar with the game Baldur’s Gate 3, here’s just a tiny little synopsis of it so you better understand the concept: in the Forgotten Realms, this role-playing game is the third installment of this series of games and is based off of Dungeons & Dragons. Their third installment is to be released in August of this year (2023). Throughout watching the game trailers and all of that, many people are wondering if you can pet or interact with the dog that presumably will accompany you through your journey.

We’re here to answer that for you!

In Baldur’s Gate 3, how will you be able to interact with your companion dog?

Before we find out if we can actually interact with the pup, we’ve got to learn his name and figure out where to find him along our journey within this game.

Meet Scratch! This furry friend is ready to love you, accompany you, and help you as much as he possibly can throughout the game, coming with various features, actually. When it comes to where to find this adorable little dude, you can and will find him right between Druid Grove and Blighted Village; if you’d like to get more exact than that, then he will be exactly near or “on the bridge that connects the Grove and Owlbear Cave…He’ll be roaming outside the village”. Although in order to make him ‘yours’ you essentially do have to pet him because upon finding him, he will be circling and guarding his most recent previous owner, Gomwick’s body.

That brings us to the obvious answer: yes, you can pet Scratch! You actually have to in order to officially make him your companion, after slowly approaching him.

As far as how petting him goes, it’s literally the most simplest thing that you will probably ever so within this particular game. Legit all you have to do is go near him and choose the “Pet him” option that you will begin to see on the left of him on your screen. How simple is that?!

Obviously, when you first see him, there is always that ‘Leave’ option, but many people do not recommend doing that. While he won’t be able to come with you on your rough and tough missions, having to stay back at camp, you will be able to come across him later on and every once in a while, where you’ll be able to use him and have him accompany you in order to get special items!
