How much does it cost to own a Golden Retriever?

In terms of feeding your new pup, you are looking at a price tag of $720 up to $960 per year, depending on their dietary needs. And of course, that doesn’t take into account any supplements they may need, or even dog treats.

Then we have veterinarian visits. When it comes to the puppy years, you could easily find yourself visiting the vet up to four times, with visits ranging from $100 to $300 each. And this does not take into account any tests or specialty visits which can see those vet visit costs increased by up to $400.

And since the Golden Retriever has a double coat and they are known for heavy shedding, they will definitely need to be groomed regularly. It is highly recommended that you brush your pup at least once per week. But, if you are thinking of taking your pup to a groomer, you are looking at between $50 and $70 for a single pro-grooming session, with some places costing even more depending on what services you are including and where you are taking them.

Beyond these more standard costs, don’t forget that your pup will also need things like toys, a bed, dog treats, and other supplies.
