Can you feed strawberries to your cats?
Everyone loves a little treat on a hot summer day and for some, strawberries are a good choice but what about your cats?
If you’re enjoying some strawberries, it’s only right to try and share. Then again, feeding kitties something outside of their “normal” diet isn’t always the best idea.
Regardless, that’s not to say pet parents can’t and won’t do it. It’s more about making sure you’re being as safe as possible and not causing any unnecessary harm to your cat by feeding them something you shouldn’t.
Either way, we have the answer to if you should be giving your cats strawberries in the first place.
Is it okay to feed your cats strawberries or should only you enjoy them?
Thankfully, Chewy already discussed this topic and gave us the answer we were looking for. As with blueberries, strawberries are okay to feed your cats but only in moderation. These shouldn’t be a real part of your cat’s diet.
If anything, strawberries should be seen as a treat for your cat as cats don’t gain much from eating them. However, if your cat is anything like mine, I’m sure they’ll be sniffing around your plate or bowl of fruit, wanting to know exactly what it is and seeing if it tastes as good as it smells.
Cats are notoriously fickle animals so it’s good to try and introduce it before trying to feed them an entire one. As shared by Chewy, you should make sure to clean them before cutting them into bite-sized pieces so your kitty can enjoy them. However, I wouldn’t take it personally if your cat isn’t nearly as interested as you might be.
Regardless, it’s always good to know especially with summer coming up. I don’t know about you, but having fruit in the summer as a treat is always great. I can understand why you might consider giving some to your cats if you enjoy it as well.
