In May, it was reported that Pete Davidson and his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, had purchased a puppy together at a pet store. The puppy in question is a Cavapoo, and it was purchased in Manhattan at a Citipups location.

Very quickly, people were calling out the actor for having purchased the dog from a store. Because, as they pointed out, this meant that the dog was coming from a breeder. It led to a lot of people talking about the “Adopt, Don’t Shop” movement.

According to TMZ, it seems as if now PETA is also calling Davidson out or having purchased this puppy from a pet store.

PETA is urging Pete Davidson to adopt a dog next time he is looking for a furry friend

Speaking to TMZ, the senior VP of Cruelty Investigations, Daphna Nachminovitch, expressed disappointment over Pete Davidson choosing to purchase a dog from a pet store. They shared that  “it’s tragic that Pete didn’t seek out a borough-born mutt from a city animal shelter, because a scrappy New Yorker with charm, personality and unconventional handsomeness could have been his perfect match.”

Of course, we should point out the fact that while Davidson may have purchased a dog from a pet store (after he saw a picture on social media of the adorable dog), this pet was apparently not for him. It seems that the dog was purchased for his mother, because she recently lost her dog. It would seem that the actor/comedian is actually allergic to dogs, according to a “source close to” the actor. (Previous reports suggested that the actor had purchased this dog to replace his own, Henry, who had died at just two years old.)

After pointing out their disappointment over Pete Davidson doggy buying choices, PETA has put out a call, urging the comedian to consider adoption if he ever needs another four-legged friend.

No matter why Davidson purchased this puppy, it is clear that there is some disappointment, both from fans and from PETA, over the fact that he did not choose to adopt from a shelter or rescue.

We want to know what you think of the situation. Are you surprised that the actor is facing backlash over how he brought a new puppy into his life? Do you believe that the puppy was always meant to go to his mother? Let’s discuss over on Twitter.
