If there’s one person who is a famous cat owner, it’s Taylor Swift. I mean her cats even have a net worth.

Of course, that probably doesn’t hold a candle to her earnings from the Eras Tour. Speaking of the Eras Tour, there was an amazing idea shared by a Houston animal shelter.

In honor of Taylor Swift being on tour, the shelter decided to have a $13.00 adoption fee for cats at the shelter longer than 30 days. In a statement shared by People: “HHS is BEJEWELED to announce our Lucky $13 Cat Adoption event to HONOR “The Eras Tour” Houston dates this weekend! April 17th-April 23rd cats that have been in our shelter for 30+ days will be available for adoption with a $13 adoption fee!” As a Taylor fan, I love all those small details.

Additionally, I also feel like the Houston Humane Society had a great idea and is one that other cities should follow when Taylor Swift plays her shows there.

The Houston Humane Society’s Taylor Swift tribute needs to have an encore.

Frankly, I’m surprised more cities haven’t followed HHS’ lead and decided to create a Taylor Swift-centric adoption idea. Either way, I do feel like this is an excellent idea that other cities could take advantage of and maybe help to reduce the number of animals in shelters and hopefully, increase adoptions.

While I know it won’t work for every single city, Taylor Swift did decide to go to a lot of major cities for multiple shows. With fans coming from near and far, you aren’t telling me that some of them aren’t looking for a companion. Whether it’s on the drive back home or a nice snuggle after the concert, some Swifties might be looking for a new cuddle buddy.

I also feel like this is a great way to get people more connected and invested in the shelters. If you’re using a name as big as Taylor Swift as a promotion, fans are more likely to visit. Even if they don’t adopt a cat, they might share the post or talk about it to someone who will end up adopting a new pet.

Even if there isn’t a massive influx of adoptions during that week, some are better than none and it’s always nice to see kitties finding their forever homes. Personally, I feel like Taylor Swift would be happy to hear that cats were being adopted no matter how many. If you’re able to, it’s a nice way to both get a new best friend and have a forever memory attached to your concert.
